ABAKALIKI—ISHIAGU Council of Elders, in Ivo Local government area of Ebonyi State, weekend, reaffirmed that no group or persons could reverse the selection and installation of Eze Moses Okafor Ngele as the Agu III-elect of Ishiagu Kingdom.
It would be recalled that Eze Moses Okafor Ngele is yet to receive his certificate of recognition from Ebonyi State government because of the controversy surrounding the installation of another traditional ruler, Chief Elias Ezenta, allegedly by some stakeholders in the community.
In a statement by Chairman, Ishiagu Accredited Council of Elders, Chief Ubani Okoro, and others, the council called on members of the public to be wary of politicians or groups in the state who were busy fanning the embers of controversy at it concerned the traditional rulership of Ishiagu kingdom.
They called on Chief Elias Ezenta to stop parading himself as the traditional ruler of Ishiagu, arguing that the former had no traditional backing that qualified him to be called a traditional ruler.
The statement read in part: “His claims are false, fake and facade. Therefore, for him to parade himself as the traditional father of Ishiagu kingdom is an abomination in a way that the ancestors of Ishiagu land are not happy with him and do not accept him.
“ In line with long existing custom and tradition of Ishiagu, Eze Moses Okafor Ngele was perfectly selected and installed the traditional ruler of Ishiagu kingdom on December 16, 2011.
“His installation as the royal father of Ishiagu kingdom was supported by a greater generality of Ishiagu men and women, including youths who affirmed that the installation was well accepted and recognized and cannot be reversed or revoked by anybody or group of politician who are friends to disunity and violence but enemies to peace, unity and progress.”
