WARRI—DELTA State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Warri, Delta State, has warned that it will not accept poorly executed road projects by contractors in oil producing communities in the state.
The Commissioner representing Udu, Uvwie and Ughelli- South Local Government Areas on the board of DESOPADEC, Mr. Festus Utuama, at Ughelli, during an inspection of projects in his mandate area, said the commission would not hesitate to revoke any sub-standard project and urged the contractors to adhere strictly to specifications, as contained in the bill of quantity, BOQ.
He said that Governor Emmanuel Udughan had charged the commission, during its inauguration, to ensure that no project was abandoned, adding that the board would religiously implement the directive.
Among the projects he inspected were a solar water project at Effrun –Otor- Ukpionvwi Oghior Road and Ovwor Model Primary School, in Ughelli South council.
Mr. Utuama, who was impressed with the level of job done, commended the contractor handling the project and advised him to always be in touch with DESOPADEC engineers, to avoid making avoidable mistakes.
