LOKOJA — Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada (rtd), yesterday, said that Vision 20:2020 programme would not be actualised without the completion of the Ajaokuta Iron and Steel plant which had been abandoned for over 10 years now.
Wada spoke at Ajaokuta, during an assessment tour of the steel plant, noting that, ‘’no country achieves industrialisation without producing steel.’’
The governor then advised the Federal Government to take another look at the moribund steel plant with a view to making it functional to drive its industrialisation programme.
“The political will must be there to ensure the steel plant is reactivated. The option of Private Public Partnership, PPP, is being considered and such requests are being passed to the Federal Government,” he said.
