ABUJA—THE Senate yesterday, rejected the re-nomination of a rights activist, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, for appointment into the Police Service Commission, PSC, by President Goodluck Jonathan.
But the Senate, which did not give reason for its action, approved the nomination of former Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro, Publisher of the Source Magazine, Comfort Obi, and five others as chairman and members of the Federal Government’s establishment.
Igbuzor, who was nominated by the President to represent South South in the commission, was rejected three times by majority of the senators in a voice vote called by the Senate President, David Mark, to determine his acceptability or otherwise.
Attempts by Senator Babafemi Ojudu, ACN, Ekiti Central to save the nominee who hails from Delta State under a Point-of- Order, failed as it was considered to have come rather late.
