Human Resources practitioners urged to influence positive change

The President of Beeches Graduate School of Business, Lagos, Professor Benjamin Nwaneri has said that lack of dynamism in leadership is responsible for underdevelopment in both corporate and government institutions.

Delivering a paper at a seminar and induction ceremony organised by Association of Human Resources Practitioners of Nigeria for its members, Prof Nwaneri stressed that lot of companies that have failed spend so mcuh time on planning but little or no time on executing any of those plans.

He added that the gap in the leadership was the inability to take action when it is necessary.

“The dynamics of the current political programmes are now on the retreat if compared with what went on in Obasanjo’s days, when Nigerians on a daily basis expected something new be they good or bad.  We were sure that something must happen. But today, we are only hearing stories, promises, plans that nobody is willing to execute, all with consequential hardship and increase in the cost of living,” he said.

Speaking earlier, the president of the association, Professor Julius Osemudiamen advised Human Resources Practitioners, not to see leadership as a means of amassing wealth but a means of influencing positive change in any organisation.

The high point of the occasion was presentation of certificates to inductees and fellows of the association.
