LAGOS — A 26-year-old cleaner, Fredrick Silas, was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged burglary and theft of valuables worth N266,000, belonging to one Miss Adenike Damola.
Silas, who was docked before Magistrate A. O. Akinde, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing, preferred against him by the police.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi told the court that the defendant and others at large conspired to commit the alleged offence at about 2.30 a.m. on June 15, 2013, at 13, Joseph Street, Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos.
He said the defendant broke into the house of Miss Damola and stole two Nokia handsets, one Blackberry phone, wristwatch and a bag containing clothes.
Emuerhi said the offence contravenes Sections 285, 305 (b) and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.
However, the defendant, who resides at 13 Oshofila Street Anifowoshe, in Ikeja, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, when the charges was read.
Magistrate, Akinde granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and she further adjourned the matter to July 17 for mention.
