Bi-Courtney boss challenges EFCC’s power to prosecute

Chairman of Bi-Courtney Services Limited, Dr. Wale Babalakin, and his co-defendants, yesterday, told an Ikeja High Court that Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had no power to institute criminal proceedings at a state high court without a valid fiat duly issued to it by the state’s attorney-general.

In his application before Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo by his team of lawyers, Babalakin and his co-defendants asked the court to quash the charges preferred against them by the anti-graft agency.

Babalakin and others, who are standing trial for allegedly laundering N4.7 billion on behalf of  a governor.
