The Nigerian reggae scene which has over the years witnessed dull moments is bound to reverberate this evening, as an avalanche of musical artistes and fans come together in celebration of the nation’s most respected reggae artistes of all times.
The event billed to hold this evening at Mozida A lounge, along Toyin Street, Opebi, Ikeja is being put together by Dance hall train TV. Tagged “Lively Up Yourself”, the event will be dedicated to the memory of legendary reggae king, Bob Marley who left an imprint that survived his death on May 11, 1981.
According to the organisers, “Lively Up Yourself” will be an annual event that honours Nigerian reggae artistes. The message of peace and unity will be spread throughout the event, mixed with memorable performances.
Among reggae artistes to be honoured are , Majek Fashek, Ras Kimono, Orits Williki, Blaccky, Mallam Spicy, Daddy Showkey, Candy Sea and Marvelous Benji.
Others are Rocksteady, Daniel Wilson, Shotgun, Shank, Rymzo, General Pype, Blackstage, Baba Fryo, Danfoe Drivers, African China, Righteous Man, Felix Duke, Buchi, Ruffman and a host of others.
The night will witness a command performance by notable comedians and musicians, a short documentary preview, autograph and photograph sessions.
“It is a night all the reggae stars that have added their quota to our booming industry will be honoured in recognition of the fact that their efforts and contributions were not in vain. We have communicated with all the major stars and they have applauded the concept and acknowledged our letters. We would have a great show no doubt”, says the host, Smooth prynz.
