AWKA — GOVERNOR Peter Obi of Anambra State and first civilian governor of the state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, have condemned the killing of the former deputy governor of the state, Dr. Chidi Nwike, describing it as pathetic, crude and inhuman.
Nwike was found dead in Delta State last week and it was suspected that he was killed by those who earlier kidnapped him.
According to Obi, the death of Nwike is a great loss to Anambra State and Nigeria.
The governor said the deceased was an experienced voice in terms of advice on governance.
He wondered why people could still take somebody’s life without scrupples, saying such acts were vestiges of barbarism the country was trying to wipe out.
First civilian governor of the state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, who said he once enjoyed a good working relationship with the late Nwike, described his late deputy as a man who loved to serve his people diligently.
