Owerri – The Team Manager of Heartland FC of Owerri, Ndubuisi Ndubueze, has said that the team’s target was to win the ongoing 2012/2013 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Ndubueze disclosed on Sunday in Owerri, after the club’s 3-0 victory over LobI Stars of Makurdi.
The manager said that plans had been intensified to achieve the target following numerous innovations that were put in place before the commencement of the ongoing league.
He said that no fewer than 18 players from the amateur clubs were being recruited into the team, as part of its preparations to win the league.
He expressed confidence that the players would continue to improve in each match they played, till the end of the league season.
The coach described the players’ performance after the match as exceptional.
“The players were extremely good during the game and they deserve to win because they were obviously better than their opponents,” he said.
NAN reports that Heartland’s victory on Sunday promoted them to the 7th position on the league table. (NAN)
