WARRI— Itsekiri Development Congress, IDC, has supported the House of Representatives member, Mr. Daniel Reyenieju, for calling on the Federal Government to immortalise the late former Minister of Finance, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, with a federal university or institution in any part of the country named after him.
IDC said that Okotie-Eboh’s vision for the nation was legendary and all encompassing, adding: ‘’We note with pride that the ideals represented by this man, had outlived him and had stood the test of time. We see his death as the handiwork of the imperialists, who did not want the country to develop. Also, his assailants saw him as a threat to achieving their evil purpose. Louis Edet House is the headquarters of Nigeria Police Force.
“We are sure this man had done well for the Police. The naming of the Nigerian Finance Ministry or even the Central Bank of Nigeria after Chief Okotie-Eboh will not be out of place and will, in fact, encourage not just the Itsekiri or the minorities in the Nigeria nation, but all Nigerians to put in their best for the greateness of the nation.’’
The association, which enumerated late Eboh’s achievements, said: “In practical terms, one of the schools he founded, was named after Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, his bosom friend. The school had people from every part of Nigeria, who were educated with scholarship from this great man.’’
