Last week the Heineken Champions Planet opened to consumers, media representatives, celebrities and football legends. For Heineken, international Premium Lager beer, it is important to continue to strengthen its brand role by engaging consumers with the Heineken Champions Planet experience.
At the press conference, Victor Ikpeba, and Christian Chukwu spoke to Heineken consumers and guests on the legendary performance of players at the UEFA Champions league.
With the recently concluded AFCON still a fresh topic, Heineken consumers spark interest in upcoming Nigeria players who displayed acts of legendary behaviour while at the AFCON games. The first Nigerian skipper to lift the Africa Nations Cup trophy 33 years ago, Christian Chukwu, hailed Stephen Keshi, the next successful skipper who has also become the latest coach to win the trophy.
Christian Chukwu, fondly referred to as ‘Chairman’ because of his charismatic disposition as a player, was the first Nigerian legend to share his views about the exciting moments of the knock out stage of the UEFA Champions League at the Heineken Champions Planet, Victoria Island Lagos.
He praised Keshi for his courage in taking risks. “Taking risks is the hallmark of good coaches all over the world,” Chukwu said. “Keshi did exactly that in South Africa, even though he knew he did not have the required support by most football followers and would be sacrificed if things went wrong.“Considering that 17 of the 23 players paraded at the competition had not participated in previous Africa Nations Cup made his team look suspect,”
“Without any doubt whatsoever, Keshi has made the world believe that there is a lot of talent in our domestic league. This can eventually affect the league positively in such a way that our future national team would be built around players at home and we can return to our formidable status,” said Chukwu and if we play our cards well we can be sure to see more Nigerian Players in the UEFA Champions League tournament .
