A 52-year-old board member of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Honourable Charity Shekari, has won a £15,000 scholarship for a master’s degree programme abroad.

Shekari, who beat 70 others that also applied for the same master’s programme put together by Global Training Consulting, GTC, was shortlisted among four other finalists from different countries before she finally emerged winner.

The other finalists are Mrs Lena Asantewaa and Mrs Patience Senaya both from Ghana;  Mr Mesfin Gebremedhin Birru from Ethiopia; and Mr Ahmed Mushtaq from Pakistan.

The GTC £15,000 UK work-based learning master’s degree scholarship to Nigerians and other nationals is particularly in core areas of human capacity-building and development.

Shekari who already has a master’s degree in International Administration and Diplomacy, commended the unbiased way in which the GTC scholarship was conducted while she promised to put in her very best during the programme and make the country proud.

The British capacity-building organisation is currently making in-road in supporting the efforts of President Jonathan’s administration in training and re-training of personnel in the country’s public sector in order to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
