Oshiomhole’s victory: Esogban of Benin, NUTGWN, ANEEJ hail judgment

BENIN—THE Esogban of Benin Kingdom and Chairman of Benin Forum, the apex Bini organisation in the kingdom, Chief David Edebiri, has said that Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s victory at the state Election Petition Tribunal had opened a new vista in the politics of the state.

African Network for Environment and Economic Justice, ANEEJ, on its part, said the judiciary has again demonstrated that it remains the bastion of hope to Nigerians following Oshiomhole’s victory at the tribunal.

Similarly, National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers Union of Nigeria, NUTGTWN, has congratulated Oshiomhole on his victory at the tribunal. The union, in a statement by its General Secretary, Mr. Issa Aremu, applauded the tribunal for upholding the election of Oshiomhole, adding that the victory had further restored hope and confidence in the judiciary. Oshiomhole is a former General Secretary of the union.

Chief Edebiri, in a statement, said the governor’s victory has “clinically demolished the clique of politicians, who held our dear state hostage for more than 11 years.”

NUTGTWN said: “We congratulate Oshiomhole on the historic judgment of the  tribunal that upheld his overwhelming victory at the July 14, 2012 governorship poll in the state. The unanimous verdict of the tribunal comes only few days after the historic judgment by the apex court that dismissed the case of educational qualification against him for lack of merit.”

On its part, ANEEJ, in a statement by its Executive Director, Rev. David Ugolor, congratulated Oshiomhole for the victory and urged him to be magnanimous in victory. He said, “For us, the judiciary has through this judgment demonstrated to Nigerians that it remains a bastion of hope in our future as a country.”
