ONITSHA -Stakeholders of  All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Tuesday declared null and void Governor Peter Obi’s pronouncement that the position of governor in the scheduled November 2013 governorship election had been zoned to Anambra North senatorial zone.

Addressing reporters in Awka, spokesman of the stakeholders and former Deputy National Chairman, South, Chief Onwuka Ukwa, said: “All these stumbling blocks being put on the way by the governor is not going to help the party in the election ahead.

“I heard the issue of zoning the governorship position to Anambra North senatorial zone first from Governor Peter Obi and that is not supposed to be the case.” This is what should emanate from the party and not from an individual.”

He said the party was not in support of Governor Peter Obi’s inability to conduct local government election in the past eight years, adding that it was undemocratic for a governor who benefited so much in the present democratic dispensation to now refuse to allow democracy get down to the grass root.

On the crisis in the governor’s local government area, Aniocha, where an APGA local government chairman was purportedly removed, Ukwa advised them not to be intimidated by anybody.

” I want to encourage the party members, local government chairmen to please not be intimidated by any one.

“If you are under the party rule, if you are loyal to chief Victor Umeh, there is nothing wrong with it. Importantly, you should not allow government to intimidate you,” he warned.
