Eko 2012: Exhibitors lament poor sales at Teslim Balogun Stadium

Lagos – Some exhibitors at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, one of the six venues of the ongoing 18th National Sports in Lagos have complained out of low patronage, saying that their sales were not as much as they had expected.

The exhibitors told reporters on Saturday that low sales have been the order of the day since the festival began on Nov.  27.

They claimed that this year’s festival was quite different from previous ones, where they said they made huge sales.

Mrs Ronke Falaye, a textile material exhibitor, said that she had only sold three pieces of textile materials worth about N3,000 since the beginning of the festival.

“The visitors are not just buying. They only window shop. Many only look at the materials and ask of the price and move away,“ she said.

Falaye said that the low sales might be due to the different locations where the sporting activities are holding.

“Based on what I have observed at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, the crowd that come here is low, compared to other venues,“ she said.

Mr Toyin Akingbulu, an exhibitor selling sportwears, said that he had only made sales of about N15, 000 since the commencement of the festival.
