LAGOS — The former Managing Director of Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank), Francis Atuche Tuesday urged an Ikeja High Court to recall two prosecution witnesses to be cross examined over some new facts and testimonies of the witnesses’ admitted as evidence.
The two witnesses; Mr. Diamond Uju and Elizabeth Ebi had earlier in their testimonies denied requesting for loans from the bank.
Specifically, the duo, who are prosecution witnesses told the court, presided over by Justice Lateefa Okunnu that they never had any relationship with the bank prior to the advancement of loans to their companies.
But with recent facts and available documents, according to the defence, they need to come and clarify some issues
Atuche’s counsel, Chief Anthony Idigbe, SAN, urged the court to recall the witnesses for further cross examination because what the witnesses did was to tell the court half truths.
But the prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro SAN, in opposition urged the court to dismiss the application for being premature and abuse of court’s process.
Justice Okunnu in her ruling adjourned till Thurday, December 6, for continuation of trial.
