Resolve A-Ibom, Abia boundary issues, Ekere urges NBC

Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere, weekend, called on the National Boundary Commission, NBC, to resolve all outstanding issues arising from the implementation of Decree 23 of 1985 on the boundary between Akwa Ibom and Abia States.

Mr. Ekere, who made the call when he led a high-powered government delegation to assess the level of damage to Ikot Uko in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State as a result of the attack by their Azumini neighbours in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, urged the NBC to collaborate with the two state governments to end the boundary dispute.

He said the Akwa Ibom State Government was ready for dialogue with its Abia State counterpart at the highest level to resolve the dispute amicably.

The Deputy Governor, who is the Chairman of the State Boundary Committee, described the attack on Ikot Uko Ika as unprovoked as the village was not in contention.
