IBADAN — THE heavy downpour in some parts of Ibadan Monday evening has rendered scores of residents in Oyo State homeless while property worth millions of naira were destroyed.
Though, no life was lost in the incident at the time of filing this report, Vanguard gathered that over a hundred buildings had their roofs blown off.
Also the rainstorm ravaged Apata, Alexander, Oke Ayo, Obafemi Awolowo road and parts of North West and South West Local Government areas of the state.
According to some sources, the rainstorm affected almost 11 local government areas within Ibadan.
Also, electric poles were felled by the heavy downpour.
As a result of the blockages on the roads, there was a serious hold-up on major roads in the metropolis.
Commuters mostly traders who closed late from their shops ended up trekking to their destinations.
However, as serious as the rain was in some places, there was not even a drizzle in some places like Ologuneru and in some outskirts of the city.
The Principal Public Relations Manager of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company of the PHCN, Mr. Jide Oyenuga said their staff were trying hard to restore the damaged electric poles.
