DESOPADEC: Delta councils task Uduaghan on accessible reps

BY Festus Ahon

UGHELLI—THE people of Uvwie, Udu and Ughelli South local government areas, under the aegis of Core Oil Producing Communities, have called on Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State to appoint credible and accessible persons from the area to represent them on the board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.

The group, in a statement by its Chairman, Chief Bulless Odiete, said they want a representative that “knows the pains of the people and not the one that will add to their suffering.”

They decried the alleged “failure and incompetence of Mr. Johnson Boro, member who represented the area on the recently dissolved board.”

The statement said: “Boro was not accessible to the people of the area he represented in the last DESOPADEC board, hence the massive jubilation in the three local government areas when the board was dissolved.

“Even in his community, Agbowhiame, Ughievwen Kingdom, large a number of persons were jubilant when the board was dissolved, thanking the state House of Assembly for dissolving the board. The group stressed the need for “true politicians and those with good heart to be appointed into the board.”
