Airtel urges youths to build on friendship for success

Airtel Nigeria has urged Nigerian youths to build on the synergies derivable from friendship and networking to achieve success in various facets of life.

The power and positive influence of friendship form the core messages of the Airtel 2012 theme campaign unveiled at the Lagos Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja, Lagos by Airtel senior executives from Nigeria and Africa headquarters in Kenya on October 9, 2012.

Chief Operating Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Deepak Srivastava and Group Chief Marketing Officer, Airtel Africa, Mr. Andre Beyers unveiled the thematic campaign assisted by Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Marketing Officer, Olu Akanmu, Chief Sales Officer, Inusa Bello and Director Corporate Communication & CSR, Emeka Oparah.

The Padi Na Good Thing campaign celebrates the creativity and resourcefulness of Nigerian youth. It reinforces friendship as a key influencer and enabler of success especially among young people.

Speaking at the launch, Srivastava emphasised the importance of friendship and connectivity. “True friends listen when we speak; comfort us when we are sad; wipe our tears when we cry and motivate us even as we strive for success.

At Airtel, we have always recognized this reality and this has continued to dictate the design of our pocket-friendly products and services that have helped to shape, build and keep both social and economic relationships of our customers alive since we commenced operation barely two years ago.”
The Padi Na Good Thing campaign would run on radio, television and print media as well as online platforms. It builds on two years of Airtel successes in the Nigerian market in setting standards and changing the paradigm for tariffs, customer service and innovation, as recently recognised in the 2012 Nigerian Telecom Awards.
The television ad revolves around a character, Half Dollar, a Nigerian youngster who dreams big dreams. He possesses an awesome singing talent; however, he has yet to get his big break. His friends are his biggest fans and, when called upon, they use their collective strengths to get him his much need big break. Because of their collective efforts, he successfully secures a lucrative recording deal.

The Airtel Chief Operating Officer, Srivatsava said the innovations and packages are borne out of a company commitment to giving Nigerians best in class service. “As a company, Airtel is proud that Nigerians exhibit a large dose of determination, responsiveness and self-belief in the pursuit of life goals. These attributes are in consonance with the universal knowledge that people can get well ahead of their vision by knowing the right people and staying connected with them”.

Airtel, Srivastava stated, salutes the “fighting spirit to succeed” of Nigerian youth as well as the resourcefulness of the Nigerian people. He said the company would continue to innovate to serve customers better. “Our leading role as the ‘pro-people network’ is reflected in our bespoke range of products, services and offerings including the 500 per cent bonus offer, which is currently the rave of the moment, 2Good packages, Wazobia, Club 10, Quick Talk and Club Business, to mention but a few”.
