The Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria says it has registered 4,000 members in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa state.
The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Sabiu Ali, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Wednesday.
Ali said the association had also distributed identification numbers and reflective jackets to the registered motorcycle operators in the area.
He said the association was collaborating with the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) in sensitising its members on traffic rules and regulations.
Ali added that it had set up 35 units to enforce compliance on the use of reflective jackets and ensure discipline among its members.
“We encourage our members to wear the jackets for their safety and passengers can easily identify motorcyclists through their registration numbers,” he said. (NAN)
