Jigawa PDP tells Gov Lamido to contest 2015 presidency

Dutse—The Jigawa State chapter of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has asked the state Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, to contest the 2015 presidency, considering his excellent performance in the state.

It also said that Governor Lamido was politically more experienced than both President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo to pilot the affairs of the country.

Chairman of the PDP Enlightenment Committee in the state, Mohammed Gagarawa, who stated this in an interview with Vanguard, said the party also considered the call by prominent Nigerians on Governor Lamido to contest the election for the highest political office in the land before putting pressure on him to put his hat in the ring.

He said the nation was currently sitting on a time bomb which could ‘’explode at any time if wisdom is not applied’’ in the choice of the leadership of the nation, adding that “no country can progress when it is faced with insecurity, poverty and massive youth unemployment.”

Gagarawa desribed Lamido as a detribalised Nigerian who had experienced poverty and knew  how to solve the country’s socio-economic problems using his wealth of experience as a veteran politician.

He said: “We need a detribalized and veteran politician to pilot the affairs of this great nation. We need a true people’s leader who listens to the voice of the voiceless, a man who knows what is poverty and wealth to take this nation to a promised land, and Governor Lamido is that man.”
