Financial literacy: Access Bank, Nickelodeon extends campaign to primary schools

Access Bank Plc and Nickelodeon have extended their groundbreaking financial literacy campaign by offering primary schools in Nigeria the opportunity to win a special visit by children’s TV heroine, Dora the Explorer.

According to a statement by both organisation, signed by Mr. Olusegun Fafore, Team Lead, Media, Access Bank and Seun Oratokhai, Nickelodeon Specialist, Dora and her monkey pal, Boots, currently seen on Nickelodeon and SilverBird Television, STV, would visit five schools across the country this month, to entertain children and teachers with fun sing-along songs, bringing to life the concept of financial literacy using Dora’s positive, can-do persona.

They said Dora explore her world just as pre-schoolers do every day, adding that the show is designed to actively engage its audience in an interactive quest using a variety of learning techniques.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr Obinna Nwosu said that Access Bank is proud to provide this exciting interaction between Dora and the children.

He stated that the initiative would provide an innovative avenue for promoting financial literacy among children.

He said, “The engagement will explore financial topics in an engaging and appropriate way, covering subjects such as; The Value and History of Money, Money Around the World, Earning, Saving, Spending and Sharing.”

Obinna added that this is one of the banks’ numerous contributions to the development of a sustainable Nigerian economy by educating young children about finance with a view to empowering them make sound money-related decisions as they grow up.
