Don’t politicise demolition, Abia govt tells opposition

UMUAHIA- Abia State Government has said that it was uncharitable for the opposition to politicise the planned demolition of illegal structures in the state.

It, however, warned that the demolition of illegal structures in Aba despite its politicisation by the few “who will never see any good about Abia State will go ahead as scheduled because it is for the general purpose of enhancing conducive and comfortable living standard for the people.”

Mr. Ben Onyechere, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Communication, in a statement said that the vituperation of the opposition in the state about the development pace was not only “insincere but highly insensitive, irrespective of the fact that they are talking from the diaspora. It is assumed that they should be getting feed-backs from the state, because opposition should not only be about falsehood.

“ It is highly disheartening for anybody not to acknowledge the expansionist programmes of the Theodore Orji administration, particularly in Umuahia and Aba where the cities are been rebuilt.

“The government is however encouraged in it’s reconstructive efforts by the support of the majority, who are aware that it is in the interest of  Abians that waterways should be opened up so that road constructions can be enhanced.”
