UGHELLI— People of Ughelli South, Udu, Uvwie and Urhobo people in Warri South, under the aegis of Concerned People of Ughelli South, Uvwie and Udu for Good Governance and Development, have called on Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, not to reappoint Mr. Johnson Boro into the board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, over his alleged insensitivity to the plight of the people of the area.
The group, in a statement signed by Mr. Lucky Iyasere, Mr. Clarkson Ukuewere Uvwie, Mr. Ejiro Oniyan and Mr. Benson Obire and made available to newsmen, frowned at the detention of Mr. Sunday Apah of the Daily Independent Newspapers on frivolous charge by Mr. Johnson Boro, alleging that Boro had used his position to intimidate the people of his area.
It said: “Most annoying is the intimidation and humiliation of Mr. Sunday Apah, who hails from Agboghiamen, as Boro who used his position as commissioner in DESOPADEC and money to influence the police in Otu-Jeremi. Based on the Divisional Police Officer’s directive, Mr. Apah was arrested at 10:30pm on Sunday with three pick loads of armed police officers.
“The next day he was charged to court at about 8:30am on frivolous five- count charges. Sir, we shall not fold our hands and see a man who can lie against his own blood to be reappointed. There are more qualified persons from the area to replace him.
“Your Excellency sir, you have built the state to this level. Don’t allow anyone to destroy this government for you.
