Youths deny cult war in AAU

By SIMON EBEGBELEM

BENIN CITY— YOUTHS from Ekpoma, in Edo State, have described as untrue reports that two persons were killed in a fresh cult clash at the state owned Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma.

There were reports that two persons were killed recently in a fresh cult war between rival groups in the university.

However, spokesman of the youths, Ehime Oseghale, asserted that “the university has been peaceful and we have not heard any gun shot or any fight or killing within the university community.

“We are not aware of any cult clash let alone death of students. Such rumours or reports are misleading.”

He added that academic activities in the university which resumed for the second semester on July 22,  had been running unhindered and without threat to the peace in the university.
