PORT HARCOURT—RIVERS State Government is to partner with the Indian Government to set up a new medical school in the state.
Governor Chibuike Amaechi, who stated this at a forum with the Indian community in the state during their celebration of Indian cultural association day, said the partnership would provide manpower for the school, adding that the state branch of Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, would also provide teaching service for the institution.
He said: “Once we are sure that Indians can supply us the medical teachers, we will establish the school, because it is not good to establish a medical school without qualified teachers.”
The governor also spoke of moves by his administration to come up with stronger legislation to check indiscriminate dumping of waste on the streets of state capital.
