Mimiko group alleges ACN’s plan to rig poll

AKURE—The Olusegun Mimiko Campaign Organisation, yesterday, alleged of a grand plan by the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, to import political mercenaries into Ondo State ahead of the October 20 gubernatorial election to rig the election.

According to the organisation, ACN, held a meeting recently in Ado-Ekiti, allegedly at the instance of ACN Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, who allegedly presided over the meeting.

The organisation, in a statement by its Director of Publicity and Media Relations, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, alleged that the ACN Chairman in company with some of his party officials, including Mr. Rotimi Agbede, the Publicity Secretary of the party in Ondo State, assembled in an hotel owned by an ACN Senator in the state to perfect the act.

He alleged that the meeting’s  sole agenda which was the “capturing of Ondo State” at all costs, dwelled extensively on what was described at the meeting as “looking for the best fool-proof and perfect formula to push Mimiko out of office despite his immense popularity.”

It added that the Ekiti State Chief of Staff, Mr. Yemi Adaramodu, a chief from the Okitipupa area of Ondo State as well as some members of the party from the riverside area were  at the meeting.

In a reaction, Akeredolu Campaign Organisation, ACO’s Director of Media, Publicity and Strategy, Idowu Ajanaku, said:  ”This is a cheap blackmail. The Labour Party has failed as a government that has collected over N660 billion and has not built one single road including the dome that they promised.

What law states that ACN leadership cannot meet to deliberate on issues? This is democracy. We don’t need to import people to Ondo State, the people will vote them out. He will go. He is the one that has embarked on illegal registration of voters.”
