DELTA State Commissioner for Special Duties (Special Infrastructure), Mrs. Orezi Esievo, has said that the 65-year-old Eku Baptist Hospital, currently undergoing total rehabilitation by the state government would be commissioned in December, this year barring unforeseen circumstances.
Esievo who stated this during a guarded inspection tour on the project and other on-going projects in the state, expressed satisfaction on the quality of job done so far on the project which, she said, was receiving government priority attention.
While saying that the project has reached advanced stages of completion, she however, expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work by some contractors handling various projects in the state, addding that they (such contractors) should step up their pace by ensuring that they deliver on time and according to specification.
The Commissioner who was conducted round the various wards at the Hospital by the Medical Director, Dr. Ese Aboloje alongside the contractor, Deux Project Ltd, Mr. Emmanuel Eke, ordered the immediate provision of state-of-the-art medical equipment at the hospital, particularly at various wards where work has been completed.
Her words: “This project is funded by the State Government as a priority project and 50 per cent fund has been released for the provision of state-of-the-art medical equipment” Esievo said, adding that the equipment on ground does not commensurate with the money paid so far.
“I am disappointed with the slow pace of work by the contractor and I have ordered that they should step up their speed in order to ensure that the project is commissioned in December, this year as agreed”.
The Commissioner who was in Agbor,Isele-Uku and Asaba monitored the ongoing rehabilitation/construction of state-of-the-art model primary and secondary schools.
