Middle Belt youths threaten self-defence against Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen

Following the loss of innocent lives and destruction of property in the Northern part of the country due to the activities of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, and Fulani herdsmen, Middle Belt Youths Focus, MBYF, has threatened to defend people of the region if the attacks continued.

President of the group, Alhaji Abdulazeez Bello, in a statement, weekend, said: “We are of the opinion that, should the situation degenerate any further, the good people of Middle Belt will have no other option than to defend themselves, even with the last blood in us.

“We, the people of Middle Belt, have been and will continue to embrace peace but there is limit to our elasticity of patience. Our silence is based on our belief in the unity and co-existence of our nation.”

He noted that the re-occurrence of attacks in Jos, Plateau State, was a calculated attempt to destabilise the Middle Belt region.

He lamented the manner the menace had been handled by the Federal Government, and decried what he called the nonchalant attitude of the various security organisations, urging them to wake up to their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property.
