Kogi govt vows to arrest bank, station attackers

LOKOJA—Kogi State Government has promised to fish out those behind the recent bombings of Unity Bank in Iyara and the town’s Divisional Police Station, which led to the death of a policeman.

Governor Idris Wada, while inspecting the damage done to the Police Station and bank, yesterday, promised to make the latest incident the last in the area.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Yomi Awoniyi, he noted that because of the state’s central location, which has borders with 10 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, it makes it prone to criminal activities. He assured that the state will soon become unsafe for criminals and those engaged in terrorist activities.

Wada commiserated with the Police on the death of a Corporal and assured that the state government will foot the medical bill of the injured female officer currently receiving treatment at the Kabba General Hospital.

The governor, who ordered the transfer of the victim to the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja for adequate treatment, assured of continuous logistics and other support to security agencies in the state to enable them tackle future security challenges that may arise.
