MAKURDI—AS part of efforts to create employment in his state, Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has called on foreign investors to take advantage of the huge agricultural potentials and endowment of the state by establishing agro-processing plants.
Suswam assured that his administration would give willing investors tax holidays and necessary incentives to facilitate the growth and stability of their investments.
Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Andy Uwokwu, quoted the governor as making the promise in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the 5th Specialised International Exhibition in Agriculture and Food organised by the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce.
The governor noted that with its stunning yearly agricultural yields, Benue State remained an investors’ delight and a fertile ground for investments.
Represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Eugene Aliegba, who led the Benue delegation to the expo, Governor Suswam said: “We are aware of the huge benefits that awaits any investor in the agricultural sector of our state and Nigerian economy.
“That is why we are using this event as platform to showcase our huge agricultural potentials and also seek partnership with investors from other countries, especially in the areas of food processing, packaging and exporting because the benefits will be enormous and far-reaching, not only to the investors but to the people of Benue State.”
