Ibadan – The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Wednesday in Ibadan destroyed 3,500 cartons of frozen poultry worth N21.5 million smuggled into the state.

Amade said the three persons arrested in connection with the incident were already in detention while the command ommand had commenced investigation.
He said the command was determined to pursue vigorously the aggressive anti-smuggling campaign to boost the revenue accruable to the Federal Government.
“We in Oyo/Osun Area Command are resolute in achieving our mandate which includes curbing contrabands in other to protect our indigenous industries,’’ he said.
The command, he said, would soon organise an enlightenment campaign to sensitise people on the differences between contraband and non contraband goods.
He lauded the gesture of the Oyo Government in donating two pick-up vans, saying this had enhanced the effective patrol of border areas. (NAN)
