ABUJA—TWENTY- seven states across the country have received the Conditional Cash Transfer programme, known as COPE, from the National Poverty Eradication Programme, NAPEP.
National Coordinator NAPEP, Mukhtar Balewa, in Abuja, yesterday, said it has successfully completed payment of N380 million to 19,040 households across 27 states of the federation.
He said: “The N380 million to the 27 states was part of the N1.5 billion expected to be disbursed by the end of the year 2012.
“The programme will ensure prompt release of the next batch of payments as at when due.”
The agency has directed states secretaries to ensure the effective monitoring of the entire payment process to guarantee transparency and accountability.”
