Dutse — Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the release of N1.162 billion for the construction of first phase of the newly established School of Basic Study, SBS, at Karfin Hausa.
State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr. Babandi Ibrahim, said the contract will be awarded to Datum Construction Nigeria Limited, adding that the project would be completed within four months. Ibrahim said the first phase of the project would include the construction of lecture theatre.
The Commissioner added that the government also approved the release of N664.3 million for halls, laboratories and offices.
which were the basic needs of the school just as intervention funds for the second, third quarter of 2011 and first quarter of 2012 were approved for the state Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB.
Ibrahim also said government approved the release of N93.1 million for the completion of the permanent site of the National Youth Service Corps orientation camp and sports centre.
He stated that the government had ratified the contract awarded to Meridien Survey and General Services for the demarcation of 50 forest reserves at the cost of N99.3 million, while another N30.6 million was approved for the renovation of the state headquarters of the Jigawa Agricultural and Rural Development Authority, JARDA, and its 27 outlets in the state.
In the same vine, the Council further approved for a bill to be sent to the state House of Assembly for a law for the re-structuring of the Jigawa Peoples Congress, JPC, to Jigawa State Social Re-Orientation and Mobilisation Agency.
