Fight against crime: IG hails Orji, asks others to emulate him


UMUAHIA—THE Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday commended Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, for partnering with the police in the fight against crimes and called on other governors to emulate him.

The IGP spoke when he received 30 new patrol vans equipped with modern gadgets donated by the state government to the police.

According to Abubakar, Governor Orji had shown the light for others to follow and assured that the police would reciprocate by securing the state.

He said by the donation of patrol vans, Governor Orji had shown that he cared for his people through partnering with the security agencies operating in the state to secure the lives and property of the people of the state.

The IGP assured Nigerians that the present police administration was readyto protect the people of the country, irrespective of religious or ethnic inclination despite the challenges faced in line of their duty.

“The police we have now is the one that will respect the law, assist the children when in difficulty and others without any room for corruption, while all suspects should be given their right except when convicted by a law court”, the IGP said.

Earlier in his speech before handing over the patrol vans, Governor Orji said that his administration would never stop partnering with all security agencies in the state to sustain the security of the state which never came easy for the state.
