BENIN – EDO State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on  Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to exercise its rights, independence and authority under the 1999 Constitution, by enlisting to be used as ad hoc staff, any demographic it believed can achieve the best result during the July 14 governorship election in the state.

State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Matthew Urhoghide in a statement in Benin, yesterday, also chided the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, over what he described as its impartiality in Edo state politics.

He said that INEC must muster enough resolve to ignore the selfish call from the state government and do what was needed to make the election process work, as it had sworn to perfect.

He also called on Edo State Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and NLC to allow INEC  conduct Edo election as it deems fit, as it had done elsewhere in the country.
