Ace-film maker and director, Tade Ogidan recently made a resounding statement as he premiered his family- induced film,’Family on Fire”, in Lagos.
The movie, shot on locations in London, is a family-centered story about greed and drug trade. It also seeks to expose the rot in our family values. The premiere took place on easter monday.
At the All Seasons Plaza, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, venue of the premiere, it was a celebration of our family values. The premiere was punctuated with songs, dance and dramas, with actor Bimbo Manuel, serving as a narrator for the side attractions before the event kicked off in earnest
He ignited a sober reflection after a group consisting of young men and women performed on stage. Also commendable was the performance of comedian Teju Babayface, who held the enthusiastic audience spell bound with his rib cracking jokes.
Ogidan in his welcome address, assured the audience of a memorable premiere experience. He said he produces films only when he was pressed to say something important about the society. Ogidan later promised to take the film to the people asa way of creating awareness as Lagos State government backs the production.
“We are bringing back family values. Those values are going down. In the next 50 years, what kind of society are we going to have as our youths are only interested in making money? It is a very complex world now because a few people really know their children.” he stated.
Overwhelmed by the storyline of the movie, wife of Lagos State governor, Abimbola Fashola charged parents to endveaour to monitor whatever their wards are doing as way of giving them direction in life.
Commenting on the movie, Mrs Fashola said “ there are serious message in the film that we need to take home. Most times, when people come to us to tell us of the wrong things our children are doing we find it difficult to face the truth. As mothers and fathers, when we hear things about our children that are negative, we need to sit down and ponder because most times when these children do the wrong thing it comes from those who are inside….”
