ABUJA—THE House of Representatives, yesterday, faulted the procedure used in nominating the over 300 recipients of National Awards, describing the scheme as gradually losing its credibility.
The lawmakers lamented that the original design of the Award was being eroded.
The Reps lambasted President Goodluck Jonathan for conferring an award on the immediate past Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, who barely two months after he received the award, was dismissed from the Force on account of his inability to perform.
Towards this direction, the House sought the establishment of a National Honours Review Committee to allow for a further scrutiny of prospective award recipients as well as subject the final process to the confirmation of the National Assembly.
