ABUJA—The Pakistani military delegation to Nigeria said yesterday that the security challenges facing the county would soon be a thing of the past, considering the professional comportment of Nigerian military in its war against terrorism.
Pakistan is a country facing a similar challenge from such terror groups as Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
Head of the Pakistani military delegation on study tour of Nigeria, Brigadier Syed Itiader Ali Naqivi, made the observation at a dinner organised by the Pakistani High Commission in honour of the delegation in Abuja.
Nagivi, who noted that national security was beyond deployment of armed forces, called for initiatives that would guarantee both economic and social security.
He said: “You cannot talk about national security without looking at economic and regional security. Nigeria will get over the present insecurity challenge facing it. The people here are calm and strong.
“At the end of our course, we will visit various countries to know about the national security perspective of such countries and see the situation on ground and interact with the intellectuals and learn from them.
“We have heard a lot about Nigeria because there are a lot of Nigerian officers doing courses with us and they bring a lot of rich experience from this part of the world to our country.
