ABEOKUTA — Members of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State, have expressed delight over plans by the new leadership of the party at the national level to instill discipline in the party.
In a communiqué signed by the gubernatorial candidate of the party during the last general election, Adetunji Olurin, after a general meeting in Abeokuta, the party noted that the peaceful and rancour-free national convention of PDP was an indication that “our dear party is positioning for future challenges.”
The party also congratulated the first National Working Committee member from Ogun State, Bode Mustapha, who reportedly scored 3,005 votes to emerge as the National Auditor; as well as the party’s new South-West officials, Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye and Mr. Ireti Oniyide, Ex-Officio and Financial Secretary, respectively.
The party stated: “We also welcome the expression of intention by the new leadership to instill discipline within the rank and file of the party.”
The meeting also resolved to abide with the resolution of the new leadership of the party, which promised to announce the new date for congresses in Ogun State soon.
