Aba(Abia) – Fabiyi Babington, one of Enyimba’s FC newly signed striker, has resolved to match the team’s ambition of playing continental football next season with a creditable performance in the league.
The former CSK FC of Moscow striker said on Friday in Aba, that he joined Enyimba because of its pedigree in domestic and international football.
He added that the 2003 and 2004 winners of the CAF Champions League competition were bent on re-establishing themselves as a force in Africa’s elite football competition.
Babington, a member of the victorious Golden Eaglet squad that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2007 in South Korea, said that Enyimba would help him to reposition his career.
He said he had to leave CSK of Moscow because of a dispute he had with his agent.
“Since after winning the U-17 World Cup for my country in 2007, I have been struggling to settle down to improve my career.
“Enyimba is a team any good player would want to play for, and so I chose them in order to build my career again,’’ the player said.
Babington remarked that he was impressed with the remarkable strides, that the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) had taken in recent times to change the face of domestic football in the country.
“It is a very beautiful game here in Nigeria.
“Everything now is so different in the league, and the country now has a wide array of talents to call on.
“It will be a good achievement for the young talents here to build the game,’’ he said.
The player, who scored the opener for Enyimba against Kwara United on Wednesday in Aba, declared that his best was yet to come for the club, “to help it to realise its objective’’. (NAN)
