Edo PDP suspends Woman Leader

BENIN—EDO State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has placed an indefinite suspension on its Woman Leader, Mrs. Lucy Omagbon, for anti-party activities.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Omagbon, a former commissioner under the administration of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion, said she had resigned her membership of the party, accusing the state party chairman, Chief Dan Orbih of running a one-man show.

State Assistant Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mrs Bisi Idaomi, who briefed newsmen in Benin, yesterday, said: “The party had watched with keen interest, the subversive activities of the Woman Leader and her behaviour, which constituted an embarrassment to the party and women in the party.”

She said that women in the party had decided that her anti-party activities should not be swept under the carpet and had passed a vote of no confidence on her.
