Ladoja, Adeniran, Oke, others jostle for PDP national scribe position

By OLA AJAYI

IBADAN-The race for the National Secretary portfolio of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP said to have been zoned to the South west is becoming more intense by the day.

The politics of who eventually clings the position is also getting messier as not fewer than six chieftains of the party have declared their interest.

Apart from the general understanding that former governor Rasheed Ladoja has been convinced to return from his Accord Party to automatically become the National Secretary of the PDP, opposition is mounting from those who believe that faithful  party members should be considered instead.

Among those who want to become PDP’s National Secretary are; Dr Saka Balogun, Professor Tunde Adeniran, Ebenezer Babatope, Olusola Oke and Mr. Faniran Adebayo, a lawyer.

Also, the former  Minister of Sports, Professor Taoheed Adedoja has expressed optimism that the position of the national secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, now being keenly contested would be zoned to Oyo State.

Adedoja, who is one of the aspirants for the position,  said, at the end of Ward IV, Ibadan South-West Local Government congress of the PDP in Ibadan, that when the position is zoned to the state, he would be considered as the best candidate for the vacant position.
