ICPC arrests FMC top shots over alleged 88m fraud

ABEOKUTA— Operatives of Independent Corrupt Practices and other related  offences  Commission, ICPC, have arrested the Medical Director of  Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Idi- Aba, Abeokuta, Dr. Dapo Sotiloye and other top officials  for allegedly embezzling N88 million meant  for  2010 housing allowance for the  staff.

Vanguard  gathered that the ICPC operatives stormed the  hospital yesterday, to  serve Sotiloye,  the Head of Accountants, Heads of Administrative  and Works departments, as well as leaders of  former and  current  Senior and Junior staff of the hospital  with  summon letters to appear at the   state office of  State Security Service, SSS, for interrogation.

The Medical Director, according to the findings was later arrested by operatives of ICPC after Interrogation by the operatives of ICPC from Abuja.

Confirming the arrest of  the FMC’s  Medical Director, the state Coordinator of ICPC, Idris Abu told Vanguard that Sotiloye was arrested for alleged fraud which according to him violated the

ICPC  Act 2004, saying “I can confirm to you that, Sotiloye has been arrested by our operatives for alleged fraudulent act. Five months allowance was mismanaged.”

He stated that the ICPC acted on a petition from the staff of the federal government-owned hospital over 2010 rent allowance of the staff.

Abu however kept mum on the fate of the arrested Medical Director, saying that, the commission would ensure it investigated how the money was spent.

Reacting to the arrest of the top officials, the Public Relations Officer of the  Hopsital, Segun Orisajo, “honestly, if I have anything on the matter , I will tell you, but for now, I have no comment. I promised you that, I will get across to you when I get anything”.
