As part of the activities marking the 60tth birthday of former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a representative of Lagos East Senatorial district, Senator Olugbenga Ashafa during the week presented 368 free eye glasses known as Jigi Bola to beneficiaries in the 16 local governments that make up the district.
Presenting the free eye glasses at his constituency office situated at CMD Road, Shangisha, Lagos, Ashafa said he has not seen a person who has the love of his people like Tinubu, adding that it was this rare virtue of Tinubu that really propelled the gesture to give out the free glasses to the people in his constituency
He said: “It is because of his kind of generosity and philanthropy that we decided to revive Jigi Bola. When he was governor, Jigi Bola was an innovation to give light to those who were in darkness.
“Today we are distributing 368 free eye glasses and this has been spread within the entire local governments in the district.
“I want to pray to God to give him long , healthy life on earth so that he could live to see all those good things that he wishes for the masses of this country,” Ashafa said.
On the beneficiaries, Ashafa noted that “anytime they put on those glasses, they should pray for the betterment of Nigeria in terms of leadership and then remember that but for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that sight might have gone and at any point in time, they should try to be better Nigerians so that together we can move this country forward.”
