Asaba—THE traditional ruler of Akumazi kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Agbogidi, Obi Stephen Osagie III, has raised alarm over emergence of fake traditional chiefs in his domain. He said he would take steps to report them to the  Directorate of Chieftaincy Affairs in the state for appropriate sanctions.

He wondered why some persons would parade themselves as chiefs whereas they were not accorded such honour, pointing out that he was a principled man who would not give out chieftaincy titles for pecuniary reasons.

Speaking at his palace, weekend, the monarch said: “Chieftaincy titles are not for sale. I have many chieftaincy titles not yet dispensed with. I am waiting for good citizens who are contributing meaningfully towards the good of my kingdom.”

He, however, advised persons seeking chieftaincy titles in his kingdom to endeavour to get them through the normal channel by preparing to showcase evidence of worthy contributions to the development of the community. He said they should not lobby for titles with money.
