WARRI—A WARRI-based lawyer, Chief Andy Asowata, yesterday, insisted that the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, who is currently standing trial before a London Court, has no case to answer because he had been tried and acquitted back home in Nigeria.

Chief Asowata who was until recently the Executive Secretary of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, spoke at the presentation of a book, entitled Bring James Onanefe Ibori Back Home, authored by Mr. Onanomevwe Ejorhodo at his Effurun, Delta State residence.

He said, any court in the world must always take judicial notice of the trial of Chief Ibori and his acquittal in Nigeria, adding “it would amount to double jeopardy for a person to be tried for same offence twice in different countries.”
