CALABAR- FORMER Governor Donald Duke of Cross River State has been appointed as senior campaign adviser to the campaign team of Senator Liyel Imoke for the February 25 rescheduled governorship election in the state.
There were speculations that Mr. Duke had abandoned his bosom friend and was romancing with the opposition political parties in the state to scuttle his second term ambition.
But Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a statement, announced Duke as the senior campaign adviser to the Imoke campaign organisation.
Meanwhile, indigenes of Cross River State working in the University of Calabar have called the university community and the people of the state to rally round former Governor Imoke in his ambition for second tenure, saying that his first four year tenure was eventful.
Imoke who was sacked from office by the Supreme Court last week is PDP’s candidate in the gubernatorial election.
Meanwhile, the University of Calabar staff made up of academic and non academic staff under the umbrella of Cross River State Community, said the first four years of Imoke had been eventful and memorable in view of his development oriented administration.
According to them, Imoke gave to the state “eventful, purposeful, transformational, touching, prudent, sincere and development-oriented.”
